International development
The faculty aims to enhance its status as one of the leading medicine
and health science faculties in the world. It continues to build on its
extensive collaborations in education and research with
leading international universities.
The faculty recognises that health is a global
concern and emphasises the international dimension
in its courses. It has a number of arrangements
with international institutes to provide educational
training, including a partnership with Botswana
to provide undergraduate training and assistance
with the estalishment of a
new medical school.
A major new centre in international health is proposed which will draw
on the collective strengths and diversity of discipline areas within
the faculty.
The faculty encourages an increasing and diversifying student intake
and provides a culturally sensitive international student support program.
This includes cross-cultural and academic communication assistance to
students from different cultures and non-English speaking backgrounds
and is designed to support students' learning needs in medical and health
science settings.
The faculty continues to develop strategies to attract high-quality
international research students, and to increase international research
collaborations and funding.
Each year the faculty hosts many international visitors to facilitate
relationships that may lead to new opportunities for international collaboration,
exchanges and commercial interactions.
